Originally formed in 2006 when Kendall and Jason met while employed at the same cabinet making company.They discovered a mutual love of Blues music and playing guitar. Soon after they got together and formed the idea of creating a band. Originally Kendall always wanted a band called The Free Radicals so that is what they started as. Brian was found in an add on Myspace looking to join a band as a drummer and Kendall and Jason met with Brian at his house and had a great time jamming for a few hours.
Looking to add and expand their sound they added multiple guitarists and singers looking for a combination that would work over the period of a year or so. To no avail it seemed they were destined to remain a trio and then met Mark working at the same company as Jason and Kendall. It proved to be a well made match and we found the right combination that formed Spectrum.
They hit another snag when productivity slowed with Spectrum and Brian got a chance to join the band Skinny. Due to conflicting schedules Brain left Spectrum and played exclusively with skinny for a year while Spectrum floundered badly trying to get another drummer to replace Brian and the sound that he had helped form. When all hope was abandoned and it seemed like Spectrum had hit the end of the road, Jason called Brian and asked him to consider coming back.
Brian did come back and his time playing live out gigging proved that he had seriously improved his chops and he was playing with confidence and conviction. In the meantime, Kendall, Mark and Jason had discovered what they thought was a rare 52 watt lighbulb, and decided to chnage the name of the band to 52 watts instead of Spectrum. So now in 2010 we are sounding better than ever and are in the process of recording a demo cd again and this time it's gonna be awesome!
